Translation

  Mister Clemente Torres,

my very esteemed and appreciated father. This letter is to greet you warmly and after greeting you that with the same love as always.

Well father, I felt sad that you sent word to my mom that you would not answer my letter, perhaps it was because I did something to offend you. If I did, please do me the favor of forgiving me, and continue answering my letters until God grants you permission to return to us. Well father, you used to tell us that when God allowed you to, you were going to buy us a phonograph victrola or a radio. There are now a few here in the rancho, and if you could bring us one when God gives you license to come, so that little Agustin can learn to dance. He has already begun to talk and he walks well, like a puppet, and he already knows to say papa and mama

And I won’t tell you more because I’m a little sick.

Receive many hugs from each of your children and from your comadre Selerina and send our regards to my uncle Magsimino and my aunt Jesusita and receive the warmest regards from me. I would much rather see you than write to you. This is all from the last the least the youngest of your children, I Rodolfo Torres
