Translation

  Ft. Lupton, Colorado Dear daughter,

this letter is to greet you, along with Bill and the kids.

Well daughter, I got your letter several days ago,

but you write so very little, you tell me almost nothing. How did you fare with the big windstorms? People have talked a lot about them here.

It’s raining now, and the sun shines only once in a while. The garden is growing very well. And, did you end up planting corn? I remember your son Albert, I can’t quite remember, that’s his name, isn’t it? he really likes corn.

but if you come in July like you say there won’t be any corn yet. The plants are very pretty, but it’s just starting.

But anyway, it doesn’t matter, because we’re very happy that you are coming. You don’t tell me in your letter if Bill is coming or not, or if you’re coming alone with the kids. You know, I want to know to get the beds ready. I don’t have many flowers in my garden, but it’s very cheery. Helen is working and Jess is too. Jerry works with Max sometimes in the farm and earns his money.

Well daughter, I think this will be all for now. Give my regards to Bill and to the kids, and receive the finest regards from us,   Max and mom Jesusita Baros Torres
